MARTINEZ

 

Martinez Cocktail


1 ½ oz gin
1 ½ oz Italian vermouth
2 barspoons maraschino liqueur
2 dashes Fee’s orange bitters

stir with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass
Jerry Thomas’ Recipe is as follows:

Martinez Cocktail.
~(Use small bar-glass.)
~Take 1 dash of Boker’s bitters.
~2 dashes of Maraschino.
~ 1 pony of Old Tom gin.
~ 1 wine-glass of Vermouth.
~ 2 small lumps of ice.
Shake up thoroughly, and strain into a large cocktailglass.
Put a quarter of a slice of lemon in the glass, and serve.
If the guest prefers it very sweet, add two dashes of gum syrup.

  10. Try this: For the sweet vermouth: Punt E Mes, for the bitters: Fee Brothers Aztec Chocolate Bitters(two dashes) and Orange Bitters(one dash), Navy Strength Gin adds a little something to the enterprise as well.
