Thanks To All!!!!

Just a quick thanks to all who arrived for our Repeal Day celebration. Fun was had by all and due to the enormous success of this event, many more are planned in the future (perhaps as early as January 16th. Anyone know the importance of that date?).

An extra special thanks to all who dressed up in thirties garb as it really helped add to the vibe of the whole room, and made the music of the early thirties fun.

As a side note, the Pebbleford 100 proof Bourbon was devoured rapidly. If you haven’t read my post regarding this rare beast, Pebbleford was a Prohibition whisky that I had acquired which was distilled in 1917 and bottled in 1931. Wondering how it was? Well it had a great nose, a lot of honeyed bite, and reminded me of a mildly stinky cheese. That’s right, some cork rot snuck into the whisky. Other than that though, it was fun to share such a rare whiskey with some of the people that I’ve come to know as my closest friends here at Vessel.

  1. Mr. Boudreau, sounds (and looks) like you all had a great time. I’m happy someone actually did something like that. I hope to make next years party all the way from DC.
By the way, on January 16th 1919, Prohibition was ratified by 3/4 of the states with Nebraska being the 36th state to do so. On January 16th 1920, many things happened. The first League Of Nations Meeting started in Paris, France; Georgia (the country) was officially recognized by Russia of it’s independence; and most importantly, the 18th Amendment and Prohibition officialy goes into effect.
Hope this is right. Thanks and keep up the great work.

  2. What a fantastic photo – you guys look great! I wish I could have been there, but… I had fun where I was. Happy Repeal Day!

  4. Rob:
You are bang on; Prohibition officially goes into effect. We are thinking about turning Vessel into a speakeasy on this day. More info later as I get it!

  5. Hay Jamie where do you get those cool clothes?, Yes I know a real silly question… Considering you do great things with cocktails.. But I really like the outfits + how is the still going, have you got anything on the go?

  6. Hayden:
Nothing on the go yet….I need more hours in my day.
As for the clothes, go to any department store (the hats may be more difficult to find, but the WWW is always a good start!)

  7. Prohibition day will not happen this year, but we will be celebrating part of Carnival and Mardi Gras!
